Chinese Students Visit the Centre for Diabetes Research
September 19th, 2011
During August 2011, the Centre for Diabetes Research hosted a three-week visit by two medical students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Nanjing University in China. They were part of a larger delegation, which also included students from Shantou University, who travelled to Perth to undertake a Winter School Program in Biomedical Research at UWA's Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
Kai Song and Pei Gao spent time with the Centre's researchers, learning techniques such as agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, and histological staining and analysis of embryonic stem cells. They also attended lectures and took part in a Ward Round at RPH.
As part of the program, all students gave presentations about their research and medical training in Perth. We were very pleased that Kai Song was awarded the prize for the best student presentation.
We wish the students well in their medical training, and may in future be able to welcome them back to the Centre to undertake PhD studies.
