Ms Jothsna Jayaraman

Immuno phenotypes of The Gene Mine strains

Jothsna is a Masters student completing an Infectious Diseases coarse at the University of Western Australia. She is joining the Centre for Diabetes Research to take part in the WAIMR Summer Student Scholarship Program. Jothsna’s project involves the characterization of immune phenotype by Flow Cytometry in Gene Mine mouse strains to allow mapping of genes for these traits. The Gene Mine, developed by Prof Grant Morahan and collaborators, is a genetic reference population of hundreds of mouse strains descending from eight diverse funders, and will provide many advantages over conventional techniques. Jothsna will be able to apply her project experience at the Centre for Diabetes Research to a six-month project she is working on as part of her Masters Degree.
