Ms Michelle Tickner

The Centre for Diabetes Research is pleased to welcome Michelle Tickner who joins the Centre for Diabetes Research laboratories from Edith Cowan University as part of the WAIMR Summer Student Scholarship Program. In her 6 week project, Michelle will be undertaking some genetic investigations on both Melanoma and Motor Neuron Disease (MND) patient samples. The preliminary work for both these projects has been undertaken by the bioinformatics team at the Centre for Diabetes Research. Michelle’s project aims to take the analyses further to determine if they are relevant to Australian patients.

At the completion of her summer project, Michelle will stay on at the Centre for Diabetes Research as part of the EUROP program, working one day a week whilst completing her undergraduate studies. If she has a successful year we hope to see Michelle stay on and begin an Honours project in 2013.
